New Construction

What you may need to know

Building a home is an exciting adventure for most people and we are here to help. We understand this and know there is a lot of details that can get overlooked during the process. Knowing your home is going to be safe for you and your family is just as important to us.

Radon Rough-In Requirements for New Construction

The Canadian National Building Code now requires that all new residential constructions include a radon rough-in system.
This system provides the necessary foundation for a future active radon mitigation system, designed to safely reduce radon levels inside the home.

Installing a rough-in during the construction phase is both cost-effective and efficient. Once a home is finished, adding the required components becomes more complex and expensive. By including a radon rough-in during the build, homeowners ensure that their property is ready for effective mitigation should elevated radon levels ever be detected.

Radon rough-in systems are engineered to draw air from beneath the foundation slab and vent it safely outside the building envelope. Proper installation minimizes energy loss and system noise while maintaining the home’s indoor air comfort and energy efficiency.

All installations should be performed by certified radon professionals to ensure compliance with code requirements and optimal system performance.
At AIR Radon Protection, safety is our highest priority — we evaluate every build for potential radon re-entry, moisture, or backdraft risks to ensure your home remains protected and your system functions effectively.

Every property is unique, and we customize our approach to ensure the job is done right — the first time.
